Let’s talk about balance. Or rather… intentional imbalance.
I’ve been thinking about how we’re constantly told to “find balance” — like it’s a fixed destination, a perfect middle ground we’re supposed to permanently land in. But here’s the thing: that’s not how real life works. Especially not when you live in a place like Toronto, where the seasons literally ask us to shift gears. There’s no one speed to stay in forever. And honestly? That’s kind of beautiful.
Right now, I’m in a season of doing. Yes, five events in two days kind of doing. (Winter me would absolutely think I’m nuts, but she’ll also be the one cozying up in and replenishing the social battery I’m draining now.) This isn’t burnout — it’s an intentional push, because I know rest is already on the calendar.
That’s what I mean by seasonal balance: a series of imbalances that eventually, over time, balance out.
So here’s your journal prompt, your moment of reflection:
